I recently returned from a trip to the Netherlands where I took a 2 day Hand Tied Flower Bouquet Course at the Boerma Institut, International Flower Design School.
My teacher was a Master Florist with over 40 years of experience of working in all levels of the floral industry.
We learned the technical skills for creating a Biedermeier (spiral bound) Bouquet.
We learned how to create Bridal Bouquets as well. Walking back to my hotel carrying this bouquet, I was congratulated a few times on my recent nuptials!
I also spent a morning with my Dutch flower buyer who buys flowers daily on the Dutch Auction. The Netherlands is the world’s leading hub for the floral industry, responsible for 60% of the world’s flower exports. The Netherlands produces 1.7 billion cut flowers annually. Over 20 million flowers are traded daily on the dutch auction.
The Netherlands is the world's largest exporter of tulips (80% of global supply).
I have been working with Ricky for almost 6 years. He is extremely kind, patient and very helpful. Thanks to Ricky, I am able to buy the world's most premier flowers.
I spent the rest of my time visiting many flower shops and street markets throughout the glorious city of Amsterdam.

Fresh Cut Flowers are an integral part of Dutch daily life. Street markets are plentiful and filled with a wide assortment of flowers, greens and branches. Shoppers pick up their weekly bouquets rain, snow, sleet, or shine by bike.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and access to the world's best flowers with Cultivars' Customers. Remember, special requests are always welcome!
